3-Month-Old Baby Eaten By Giant Rats While Mum Was Allegedly Out Partying

Sweet lord, this story is fifteen shades of fucked.
A 3-month old baby girl in South Africa has died after being eaten alive by giant rats. Good. Freaking. Lord.
The girl’s mother had left the tiny baby alone and unattended in a locked shack overnight and had gone out drinking and partying. The shack, located in the extremely poor Katlehong township of Johannesburg, is known to be infested with giant rats, some of which can grow up to a metre long. They are considered a plague in poverty-stricken South African townships and have killed children before.
A neighbour was apparently alerted to the incident at dawn when they were awoken by the child’s screams, and rushed in to find the grisly scene.
“The baby could only have died a painful death. The infant’s tongue, eyes and fingers had all been eaten. Besides the missing body parts, the remains of her body had bites and wounds all over that were inflicted by the sharp teeth of the rats.”

“This woman must rot in jail. She does not serve to be a mother.”

The 26-year-old mother, who has since been arrested and charged with child neglect, returned to the shack at around 6:30am “with a new boyfriend” and began screaming after encountering the scene.

In a cruel twist of fate, the girl was one of a pair of twins, who neighbours state were routinely left home by themselves as their mother went out drinking. But on this particular night the other twin, a boy named Lucky, was taken with her.
The boy is now in the custody of the twins’ father. South African police confirm the mother’s case will be heard next year.
Fuck. Me. Sideways.
