Last night’s 2009 SOYA Awards saw seven talented Australian creatives walk away with $10,000 in cash, flights and an invaluable mentoring program from the likes of Marc Newson, the Zimmermann sisters, Tim Richardson, Vince Frost and Steve Pavlovic. Since its inception in 2004 the Qantas Spirit of Youth Awards have honoured the brightest of Australian creatives including My Disco, Antipodium, Young + Restless and Friedrich Gray, and this year’s incarnation was no different.
Pedestrian favourites Romance Was Born took out the Fashion category ahead of Arnsdorf and Gary Bigeni while Melbourne two-piece Oh Mercy triumphed in the Music category ahead of Sherlock’s Daughter and Songs. Check out the full list of winners and nominees below and congratulations to everyone involved.
