1st Study Of Its Kind Will Scope Out How Valuable Aussie Music Exports Are

A new study by a bunch of real good academics and music nerds is going to clock just how much our musical exports are worth, according to Sounds Australia

It’s the first time we’ve ever really looked at how much our tunerag expats are worth, and the folks over at the Australia Council for the Arts, Australia Research Council, and APRA ACMOS with help from University of Newcastle and Monash University are hoping it will let the local industry to have a bit more power when it comes to exporting creative types.

Research began earlier this year at a collection of events and festivals, where the team have been getting a feel for how well Australian musos are doing with international audiences.
The research team hope that in three years’ time, we’ll have a good idea of how much the rest of the world likes our music, and the Australia Council and APRA can let the policy makers over in Government that our music industry isn’t here to fuck spiders. (So maybe we should be putting some friggin’ money into it.)
Dean Ormston over at APRA says that the results should point out just how bloody grouse our creative exports are.

“With the right investment, Australia could set its sights on becoming a net music exporter. This research will seek to provide evidence of the far-reaching economic and cultural benefits generated by Australian music export.”

Flume is obv killing it.
The team are now trying to get an idea of how the music scene is going in our backyards. They’re encouraging people that help out with the production and distribution of Australian music to take a mo’ to fill out the online survey, and giving them the chance of scoring some very tidy treats for their time.
