Schoolies, the annual festival of crushing hangovers, regrettable Instagram pictures, public urination and forfeited hotel room deposits, is upon us once again, and as usual, newly-minted year 12 graduates are coming in hot.
The Sydney Morning Herald report that overnight, 19 schoolies were arrested during the first night of celebrations at the Gold Coast. For those playing at home, that number breaks down to “18 males and one female.”
Most were arrested for nuisance offenses and being drunk in public – always a classic – although police noted that eight people were also taken in for drug offenses.
What else is happening at schoolies this year?
– Everyone wants to change hotel bookings, because nobody likes their friends anymore, because #DRAMA.
– A Channel Seven cameraman was spat on yesterday evening, although to be fair, based on the pic below, he seems to have survived and maintained a chill attitude towards his ordeal.
