Ah, Schoolies week. When anything can happen, but it’s almost always terrible.
In yet another incident of an Australian teen getting in over their head in Bali, 18-year-old Perth resident Jamie Murphy has been arrested and held on suspicion of drug possession after he was stopped from entering a Kuta nightclub.
Murphy, shown below on the left, was arrested early this morning outside the Skygardens nightclub after being stopped by guards and handed over to a police station, where he waits to find out whether or not he’ll face charges.
He’s yet to be officially interrogated and was only just given a lawyer, and while police sources claim Murphy admitted to buying white powder throughout the night it is yet to be determined that it was even a drug.
But if the powder is found to be an illegal substance and Murphy is charged, he could face Indonesia’s relatively-harsh drug laws: the maximum penalty for drug possession under five grams is 12 years in jail, and any more can lead to a the maximum sentence of 20 years or life in jail.
Party safe, m8s.
