Witnesses claim the teen, who QLD police have identified as Sydney teen Hamish Bidgood, had been inhaling nitrous oxide at the time of the incident.

According to The Daily Telegraph, police have labeled the death as non-suspicious and are waiting for toxicology test results to determine whether alcohol or drugs were involved.

The Daily Telegraph reports that a group of fellow Schoolies watched as paramedics jumped the fence to reach Bidgood in the pool area of Surf Regency Hotel where he had fallen. Two police officers had reportedly performed CPR before paramedics reached the scene.

The group reportedly did not see any other teens in the area which Bidgood had fallen.

Counselling is being offered to other Schoolies.
