It’s alleged that Park gave long-time friend Choi Soon-sil access to classified government documents and even let her edit speeches, despite her complete lack of government credentials.
Why would Park stick by her mate through all of that? Well, Park was a devotee of Choi’s father, who ran a legitimate religious cult. As such, detractors believe her allegiances lay with Choi first, and with South Korea second.
Faith in Park’s leadership tanked, along with her poll numbers. Park has issued apologies for this entire drama, and she says she’s prepared to face investigation, but the masses outside the presidential Blue House just want her gone.
