100K Peaceful Protesters Hit Seoul’s Streets To Call For Prez’ Resignation

Donald Trump definitely isn’t the only President* facing mass protests right now.
Seoul has exploded with an estimated one hundred thousand demonstrators calling for South Korean President Park Geun-hye to resign after a top-to-bottom ridiculous political scandal.
Reports on-site claim there are as many as 30,000 law enforcement officers present, many in full riot gear.
Footage from the city reveals the sheer magnitude of the protest, and it’s expected to grow larger still:

Those protests sprung up while the Western world was fretting over the US election; at the same time, Park found herself embroiled in one of the craziest political scandals in recent memory.
Seriously, this one just gets wilder as it goes along.

It’s alleged that Park gave long-time friend Choi Soon-sil access to classified government documents and even let her edit speeches, despite her complete lack of government credentials.

Not only that, but Choi is accused of embezzling funds from a series of South Korea’s largest companies, and she’s currently under arrest for charges of fraud and abuse of power.

Why would Park stick by her mate through all of that? Well, Park was a devotee of Choi’s father, who ran a legitimate religious cult. As such, detractors believe her allegiances lay with Choi first, and with South Korea second.

Faith in Park’s leadership tanked, along with her poll numbers. Park has issued apologies for this entire drama, and she says she’s prepared to face investigation, but the masses outside the presidential Blue House just want her gone.

Investigators have announced they’re deepening their search, so watch this very vocal space.

*Technically still President-Elect, but you know.
