Yoko, Gaga, Sonic Youth, RZA Honour John Lennon

Last weekend saw a star-studded incarnation of Yoko Ono’s Plastic Ono Band (including Lady Gaga, Sean Lennon, Sonic Youth’s Thurston Moore and Kim Gordon, Wu Tang Clan’s RZA, Iggy Pop, Perry Farrell and actors Joseph Gordon-Levitt and Carrie Fisher) take to Los Angeles’ Orpheum Theater to honour what would have been John Lennon’s upcoming 70th birthday, October 9th.

Gaga joined Ono for three songs including “The Sun Is Down”, taken from Ono’s most recent LP and a rousing rendition of “Give Peace A Chance” at the concert’s finale. For the latter jam, Ono encouraged her Plastic Ono bandmates to contribute their own verses, the perfect opportunity for Gaga to continue on her gays in the military tip while sharing the stage with Perry Farrell, RZA, Princess Leia and Kim Gordon in a cover of what is the quintessential anti-war song. Weird, we know.
