Ya Girl Lorde Just Nabbed Her First US #1 Album For ‘Melodrama’

Kiwi wunderkind Lorde dropped her second full-length album a couple of weeks ago and already she’s absolutely rolling in the accolades and praise, with ‘Melodrama’ kicking charts across the world squarely in the dick.

Number one in our own ARIA charts, as well as certified Gold in her home country of New Zealand (which means all 12 of them gave it a listen), Lorde’s game-changing collection of dark pop gems has now also just earned her her first ever numero uno spot on the bloody Billboard 200.
Sound the ‘BIG DEAL’ klaxon mates, as taking out the number one album spot in the States isn’t a walk in the park, with ‘Melodrama’ selling 109,000 equivalent album units in one week. So, heaps.
In more cool news, Lorde takes the title from US singer-songwriter Halsey, who in turn took it from newly woke Katy Perry 2.0, meaning three females have topped the Billboard charts in a row, the first time it’s happened since December 2012.
Women! Love to respect them, love to listen to their music. Good stuff all round.
