Ya Boi Nick Murphy Just Dropped A Surprise New EP & It Is Full O’ Bangers

Hold onto your butts, folks. It’s a good day for new tunes.

After ditching the Chet Faker moniker late last year in favour of something a little more closer to the truth, Nick Murphy has gifted unto us all the first batch of new tunes since the great name change.
Murphy has very quietly dropped a brand spanking new EP entitled ‘Missing Link,’ following the debut of the first single ‘Your Time‘ which debuted on Triple J just this morning.
The single, produced by DJ KAYTRANADA, first appeared in earlier form on the award-winning Canadian artist’s ‘0.001%‘ mixtape.
Speaking on the shift from Chet to Nick, Murphy stated that the new tunes are more a representation of his true self, rather than an attempt to corner his artistic output into any one specific channel.

“Chet Faker was me trying to prove something to myself. But my tastes are pretty dynamic and I realised I’ve spent time resisting that. Now I want to put everything in. It’s not conceptual anymore. It’s just me, and it made sense to show that in a name. It feels like a rediscovery.”

The EP was teased last week, and a visual accompaniment to the record is expected to be released in the coming weeks.

The full thing, released through Future Classic, can be purchased or streamed via this here fancy link. Alternatively, the sweet boy himself has put up all 5 of the EP’s tracks on YouTube. Cop the lot below.

Murphy is performing the new EP in full “in the round” as part of Vivid LIVE in Sydney at the Opera House this June, before he jets off overseas for an extensive tour of the US and Europe that’ll take him through to the rest of the year.
