Wiz Khalifa’s Tribute Track To Paul Walker Makes History With 1 Billion Views

Wiz Khalifa has made YouTube history, after his sentimental AF tribute to late buddy Paul Walker – song ‘See You Again’, ft. Charlie Puth – hit 1 billion views on YouTube.

It’s the first-ever hip hop/rap video to do so – not even Nicki Minaj‘s ‘Anaconda’ is a match for the Marc Klasfeld-directed, super-emosh throwback to the Fast And Furious crew’s fallen brother.
It’s only taken 6 months for 1 billion+ humans to view the music video for the lead single from the Fast And Furious 7 soundtrack, after it was released in April, which is no mean feat.
In an interview with Entertainment Weekly, Puth – who co-wrote the track with DJ Frank E, who them got Wiz onboard – said the inspiration for ‘See You Again’ was a friend of his who died in similar circumstances to Walker i.e. in a fatal car accident.
“I was thinking of my friend who had passed away in a very similar way [to Paul Walker]. But it worked so well with everything going on with Paul. I’m really honored that the Furious franchise thought that I captured it the best. I think I broke down and cried when they told me, because I was going to honor my friend, I was going to honor Paul, and anyone who’s ever lost anybody.”
If you haven’t already shed tears over it, pls do so now:
