We’re Throwing A Fundraising Gig For Youth Homelessness Ft. Fresh Oz Acts

It’s pretty routine for us to complain/be precious about, well, anything that doesn’t go our way, even though there’s a whole world out there doing it legitimately tough. You know it, we know it – It’s time to help the causes that actually need it.

That’s why P.TV has launched PEDESTRIAN HELP – a new initiative that spreads the warm fuzzies via our new site vertical, raising awareness for local causes in need.

First we’re raising funds for Youth Off The Streets (YOTS) – with help from Australia’s best, young, local acts – by putting together a one-off gig at Sydney‘s Metro Theatre on Saturday, May 21. All donations on the night will go back to Father Chris Riley’s A+ charity.

If you’re not familiar with YOTS, they’re a non-denominational community organisation working for young people facing issues that they shouldn’t have to, like homelessness – affecting 26,000 Aussies from 12-25 – as well as drug/alcohol dependency, neglect and abuse.

Maybe you’ve experienced something in the realm, maybe you haven’t – either way, we’ve chosen YOTS as our first charity so that the youth of tomorrow don’t have to.

THE LINE-UP
(First announcement ONLY – second line up drop on Monday, 2 May, 2016):

AMATEUR DANCE

Amateur Dance might be the new kid on the electronica block, but its proving that diving headfirst into something can pay off in more ways than one. The 21-year-old behind the stage name, Joseph Cookson, has been announced on the Splendour In The Grass 2016 lineup, which really is no surprise with his harmonically rich, emotionally driven and uplifting house music. Check AD’s Soundcloud HERE and Facebook HERE.

AUSTRALIA

Sydney-based trio AUSTRALIA – made up of Guy Fenech, Oliver Marlan and Nick Franklin – have gained a ton of steam with their debut LP, ‘Portraits of People, Places and Movies‘. Described by triple j‘s Nick Findlay as “a stunning mix of iconic antipodean sounds that stretch from the ’80s to now”, the band are this month embarking on their very first national tour, with the high-energy shows every bit as transfixing as the album itself. Check out their Soundcloud HERE and Facebook HERE.

BAD DEEP DJS

DJs Erin Moy, Sami Stewart, Harry Hunter & Belinda O’Brien are the A+ spinners who make up in-demand DJ collective Bad Deep; also running a frothed-over monthly club night of the same name. Gee yo’self up for their upcoming gig on Friday April 22 at Sydney’s The Lord Gladstone (FREE FRIGGIN’ ENTRY), if you wanna get a taste.

GILL BATES

Thanks to Gill Bates (not to be confused for the Microsoft magnate), Australia’s modern and always-growing RnB Hip Hop movement is stronger than it’s ever been. Hailing from Brisbane, the man has an energy that borders sensual and abrasive, plus background beats that let his lyrics slay. Needless to say, we’re completely into it. Check his Soundcloud HERE and Facebook HERE.

PEARLS

Melbourne outfit Pearls have been around the track a few times, showing y’all what glam-rock means with sugar-meets-grit vibes. Last year they gifted us their debut album, ‘Pretend You’re Mine‘ (featuring that ‘Big Shot’ banger), and now they’re currently working on new music to make us get up and move. Check their Soundcloud HERE and Facebook HERE.

POLOGRAPHIA

Polographia simplifies the current state of electronic music with a natural and nostalgic approach, using a live setup to create a perf balance/blend of warm ups, peaks and unwinds. Having recently been signed to the same Sydney-based label as Yolanda Be Cool and Rufus, only good shit’s to come from this one. Listen to their Soundcloud HERE and hit their Facebook HERE.

SOPHIE LOWE

It’s all happening for 25-year-old slashie babe Sophie Lowe. After supporting sold-out shows for Meg Mac and Montaigne, featuring in Flume‘s ‘Never Be Like You‘ music vid and scoring an acting gig alongside Willie Nelson in feature film Waiting For The Miracle To Come, the multi-faceted artist has also dropped ‘EP 2’ – a seven-track album boasting her personal, captivating and seductive sound. Even with a heccas schedule, Sophie is chuffed to be involved in P.TV and YOTS’ gig. “I’m excited to be a part of this special event. Youth Off The Streets is a wonderful cause and I cant wait to sing my heart out for it.” Check her Soundcloud HERE and Facebook HERE.

WAX WITCHES

What began as a side project for Bleeding Knees Club‘s frontman, Alex Wall, has now turned into a fully fledged recording venture with thee bratty lo-fi albums now under his belt – the most recent being ‘Memory Painting’ released just last month. You can check WW’s website HERE and Facebook HERE.

To join us for a fuck-off banger of a night with good vibes/times/tunes, plus helping make the world a better place while you’re at it, RSVP HERE

Our second lineup announcement is on its way and, trust us when we say, it’s a bloody doozy.

Stay tuned.
