Weezer certainly may have had their day, but frontman Rivers Cuomo continues to seek out unusual partners-in-collaboration, this time alongside the brilliant Toro y Moi. Or rather, it was the other way round, with a Twitter exchange between the two artists revealing the following:
Toro y Moi: “@RiversCuomo I’ll do a song with you. I’m your biggest fan.”
And several hours later…
River Cuomo: “@ToroyMoi that’s funny I was just listening to you. Yeah, let’s do something!”
Aw you guys!
Cuomo has worked on projects with a – diverse, to say the least – catalog of artists that include Best Coast’s Bethany Cosentino, Simple Plan, Katy Perry, Mark Ronson and Adam Lambert. A compatible match? We can only hope.
In other related Twitter/unlikely musical collaboration announcements, Outkast rapper Big Boi revealed he was in the studio working on Modest Mouse’s new album set to drop later this year: “Been camped out in the Lab with Modest Mouse all week, workin on the new mouse LP, coolest cats ever. Long Live The Funk.”
