If you’ve ever dreamed of renting an insanely expensive one-bedroom apartment in the Los Angeles neighbourhood of Silver Lake from the founder and frontman of slacker pop band Wavves, I have some incredible new for you: You can do that, right now.
Nathan Williams, who you might know from singing songs about weed and surfing (most notably that one song off the GTA V soundtrack), has posted on Instagram that he has eight “rehabbed” apartments up for rent in the complex, each going for $USD2995 a month ($4,180.48 in good old-fashioned Aussie dollarydoos).

My apartments in Silver Lake are officially up for lease! Completely rehabbed. There’s 8 total but a few have already been leased as of this morning. 901 Parkman ave. Walking distance to Silver Lake Dog Park, Bar Bandini, Mohawk Bend, Kettle Black etc. If you’re in the LA area and interested or have a friend that needs a place let them know. 1 bed 1 bath. $2995 a month.
Possibly because using your band page to run a real estate business seems like maybe the least cool thing you could possibly do, Williams got some negative feedback from fans, which he dealt with gracefully:
it is super sad. how dare i have the audacity to have a passive income. i must be AN IDIOT! https://t.co/8CpMb58HNc— WAVVES (@WAVVES) January 26, 2019

I just realized i pay $3000 a month to lease the @ghostramp store. I’m gonna have a meeting with my landlord tomorrow and tell him that y’all told me that’s not cool. Will report back.— WAVVES (@WAVVES) January 27, 2019
The apartments are nothing hugely special, timber floorboards, modern bathrooms, and a room that looks possibly large enough to have a bed and a couch but, I will admit it, the bay windows are a nice touch.
