Watch The 90s-Era Azealia Banks Music Video for ‘1991’

She of eggplant-coloured weave and high levels of iron (from all the Twitter beef), Azealia Banks has released the music video for ‘1991‘, the opening (and second best) track from her debut EP of the same name. Channeling Aaliyah, Madonna circa ’89 and Crystal Waters, the Tom Ford clad MC was directed by Justin Mitchell, whose video sees Banks soldier on in her quest to fully adopt all the tropes from the song’s titular era; that is, there are nods to vogueing and NYC’s ballroom culture, much vamping in soundbooths and circular sunglasses, playing with magnifying lenses and actually having a goldfish.
