The first teaser for ‘Mother!‘, the latest feature from Darren Aronofsky, aka the guy who made the equally disturbing ‘Black Swan‘, is here to haunt your dreams.
In case you didn’t already kinda figure from the promo poster, it has now become abundantly clear that ‘Mother! ‘, featuring Aronofsky’s partner and all-round-queen Jennifer Lawrence and handsome man Javier Bardem, is going to be one of those horror-thrillers that makes you jump at every weird noise you hear in your own home for the next month.
There’s just something deeply disconcerting about intense sound and dialogue overlaid on top of something as innocuous as J-Law answering the door that makes me feel deeply uncomfortable. Oh and close-ups of bugs, and fire, and violence, and that screeching soundtrack from Jóhann Jóhannsson.

The film, shot in Montreal, also features Michelle Pfeiffer, Ed Harris, Domhnall Gleeson and Kristen Wiig.
It’s up for the prestigious Golden Lion at the Venice International Film Festival at the end of August. The film is scheduled for general release straight after the festival on September 15.
