Total late pass here but in the interest of “mentally preparing for the weekend” here is the latest cross-genre offering from Perth psych lords Tame Impala. Back in June (remember June?) the cover prone quartet delivered the world’s sludgiest rendition of Massive Attack’s “Angel” (as part of the Pav-curated Vivid LIVE festival) and for reasons unknown, footage of that performance has only surfaced now.
We approve wholeheartedly. In part because advertisements and movie scenes have conditioned us to associate “Angel” with slow motion action sequences and general epicness but also because this version is so dense and immersive and the perfect companion to Tame’s other go-to cover jam, “Remember Me”.
