Aretha Franklin is a musical fkn legend – and, at 73, performances by her are rare.
So a lot of people – POTUS and FLOTUS included – were pretty bloody stoked when she gave a surprise appearance at the 38th Annual Kennedy Center Honors in Washington.
Among those being awarded gold shiny statues for their contribution was George Lucas and Carole King, who lost her damn mind when Aretha came out to sing the King/Goffin/Wexler 1967 banger (You Make Me Feel Like) A Natural Woman.
Fast-forward a couple of lines, and everyone’s in shock – Obama’s wiping away tears before Aretha’s even done with the first verse.
