The death of Lee Alexander McQueen was one of the affecting losses felt this year. His incomparable creativity and vision, ability to capture romance, humour and darkness through fashion, the breathtaking construction of his work, his ceaseless innovation and boundary pushing – all the qualities he’ll be remembered for left a widely acknowledged void in the fashion and art world. To celebrate McQueen’s imagination and designs fashion filmmaker and SHOWstudio director Nick Knight has created a haunting new film, To Lee, with love, paying tribute to his late friend and collaborator. The film features models Ajak, Anais, Flaviana, Jeneil, Joan Smalls, Kinee, Quack, Rose, Sedene and Trissan in a kaleidoscopic collection of McQueen pieces set to an exclusive soundtrack by another regular McQueen collaborator, Björk.
Nick Knight describes the film as “my way of speaking about a very unique and important person who changed my life. My desire was to speak in some way about the dark and the light contained within Lee, and within us all.”
