Watch Kirin J Callinan’s Inverted World In The Stunning Video “Landslide”

Serial overachiever and frequent film clip provocateur, Kirin J Callinan has dropped another stunning film clip off the back of his excellent debut record Ebracism.

While we called it early by saying Callinan’s clip ‘Victoria M.’ would be the most amusing of the year in June; ‘Landslide’ will no doubt be the most striking, the most powerful.

Directed by Midnight Juggernauts’ Vincenzi Vandella, Landslide captures a mud-caked Kirin singing his achingly beautiful track as an ode to the ocean above him. Filmed in a secluded quarry, the inspiration behind the idea, according to Vandella via Pitchfork, was to literally film Down Under: “We went to a secluded beach/quarry and strung him by the feet upside down as he performed. It was actually a rather dangerous idea and more like torture but he was happy to submit himself to that pain and brutality. It’s a beautiful song, but I love how there’s very real suffering and emotion behind his performance in this simple clip. The guy is built pretty tough.”

After his extensive tour with Cut Copy and Jenny Hval in the US, Kirin J Callinan will return home to join the stellar Laneway 2014 lineup.
