So last night Kanye West played a “surprise” show at the Bowery Ballroom in New York City. People queued round the block, tried to exchange appendages for tickets on Craigslist and generally went crazy amidst talk of an all star lineup featuring every collaborator on West’s latest, My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy. Not every collaborator (Hov!) appeared last night, but Bon Iver, John Legend, Rick Ross, Nicki Minaj, Swizz Beatz, and Pusha T shared the stage with arguably the hottest human being on the planet right now. Aside from a scintillating rendition of “Monster” in which Nicki Minaj totally owns the verse of the year, West took time to address the crowd and some of the issues he’s been wrestling with for the past few months.
