Watch Green Day and Eels Audition For Paul Rudd In This Is 40 Outtakes

Green Day’s Billie Joe Armstrong and Eels‘ Mark ‘E’ Everett have both contributed to outtakes for Judd Apatow’s new comedy, This Is 40.

In each scene, the artists are attempting to sign with a fictional record label which Paul Rudd owns. ‘E’ plays a tune off his 2010 record before launching into a tirade of abuse in the third person “Eels doesn’t like being fucked! Eels is not happy,” while Billie Joe does his best job at trying not to piss himself laughing while pitching a Norwegian death metal indie pop band whose sole aim is not to sell records. The Green Day scene leaked a few days ago, with the Eels number rolling in this morning.

This is 40 already has a stellar musical lineup behind it, with new contributions from Wilco, Ryan Adams, Paul McCartney and Fiona Apple first ever soundtrack piece. It’s a shame these scenes didn’t make the cut, but on the plus side, imagine what did.
