Gorillaz have been in the country playing sell out shows to rave reviews so they’ve established that they’ve got a hefty local fan base around these parts. Damon Albarn continues the momentum of his interminable creative juggernaut with yet another Gorillaz release due on Christmas day for free via Gorillaz website. The quick follow up to Plastic Beach – which dropped only this year, is entitled The Fall and was written and recorded on Albarn’s iPad over the past few weeks while the band was touring through the US.
In keeping with the Gorillaz tradition of insane guest vocalists, Albarn told triple j that the collaborators on The Fall comprised anyone who “popped in” while he was working. He told them the sound “isn’t lo-fi, it’s just iPad-y.”
