WATCH: Amanda Lepore Stars In The Drums’ ‘Days’ Video

Moody Brooklyn outfit The Drums have released the video for ‘Days’, the latest single from their album Portamento.

With lyrics like ‘And I worked so hard, and I killed myself, and you broke my bones, and I sold my soul‘ it’s a pretty grim affair shot in black and white and what appears to be 3D. Chiaroscuro lighting, gritty video realism and scenes awash with overlaid imagery make for a pretty graphic video experience, with an all-important redemptive message that stops it from being a total buzz kill.

The clip stars trans-icon Amanda Lepore, and of the song and its star the band’s frontman Jonathan Pierce says: “[It’s] about that moment when you realize that you are someone different from what you once were. Different needs, different desires. Different hopes and fears. We were lucky enough to have a special guest in our video who is a dear friend and a radiant symbol of being true to who you know you are and moving away from a dark past.”

On working with Lepore, the video’s central subject Marc Faiella – who you might recognise if you shop online at Opening Ceremony – said “It’s not every day that you get to have your makeup put on by Amanda Lepore–but I think it’s every tranny’s dream. Do you think I should send this in to Ru Paul’s Drag Race?” Yes, yes we do.
