A WA Craft Brewery Is Shelling Out Big Bucks To Jumpstart Emerging Artists

WA

We all know a mate who reckons he’s the next big talent when he’s on the cans, but who’d have thought it turns out beer can actually help you be the next Aussie creative to make it big.

Ol’ pal Davo from the local RSL might need a bit more than a can or two to get his less-than-impressive rendition of AC/DC‘s Highway to Hell off the ground, but a bunch of Western Australian creatives are being given the chance to have their fundraising efforts matched to kickstart their careers, thanks to the Tapped by Otherside program.

The program has been run by WA-based craft brewery Otherside Brewing Co. since 2015, and is keen to shell out big bucks (from a $60,000 grant fund via Pozible) to any WA-based creative or artist that can hit their fundraising targets, in an effort to promote the artistic scene.

Funding applications are open now, so if you’re a creative calling WA home and you wanna get a leg up then you best get a wriggle on, because there are only six Australian Music Tour grants (to send the act on a national tour) and five Creative Industries non-music grants (to pursue a project that’ll help take their career to the next level) available.

They’ll go to the folk who reach their fundraising targets fastest, matched up to $2,500 for musicians and $2,000 for other creatives, and those after will be matched to lower amounts.

At the moment it’s only open to WA residents but the goal is to take it national – with enough support of course. And considering it’s all funded via the sale of Otherside beer, mates, we beseech you: give it a guzzle.

Even if you’re not from there you can still get involved by supporting your fave artists to get them to the threshold – and by buying a beer.

If you’re gonna have a cheeky bevvy anyway, you might as well open a can that’ll go towards the arts. Why not.
