By most accounts V Festival’s first announcement of acts (which leaned heavily towards middle of the road stadium rock) was far inferior to the lineups of yesteryear. For proof just compare the headliners of ’09 to the headliners in ’07 (their inaugural year) that’s The Killers vs. The Pixies.
Thankfully the second round of acts are far more appealing than the first with shoegaze (or is that newgaze?) wunderkind M83 and trans-Atlantic lo-fi duo The Kills added to the bill. In line with their penchant for touring “elder statesman” V festival have also announced that Madness and The Human League (performing the seminal “Dare” in it’s entirety) will play the festival.
