Tupac Hologram, Madonna To Announce First Australian Tour In Twenty Years

This week Madonna will confirm what we’ve long suspected with the imminent announcement of the Australian leg of her MDNA world tour.

The Telegraph are reporting that Madge will announce her January 2013 concert dates some time this week, almost twenty years after she last played here in November 1993. Tickets for the MDNA stadium tour range in price from $45 – $600, a price Madonna has deemed worthy of her show (“I’m worth it“), which so far has included on-stage break downs, nip slips and open jabs at Lady Gaga; with the seasoned performer transitioning from a performance of ‘Express Yourself‘ into the chorus of a remarkably similar ‘Born This Way‘ – all the while chanting ‘She’s not me!’

I think we got it, Louise.

Tour promoters are also pitching a series of concerts in Sydney and Melbourne to the creators of the Coachella Tupac hologram. The Herald Sun reports that Patrick Whyntie, of Heatwave Festival, “has opened discussion lines direct to the company responsible for the Tupac hologram to work out how to bring this to the Australian marketplace in early 2013.”

Alongside Dr Dre, Tupac 2.0 would join a summer 2013 stadium tour wish list that also includes the Red Hot Chili Peppers, Van Halen, Nicki Minaj, Drake, Wiz Khalifa, Coldplay, and the usual heavy-hitting line-ups of Stereosonic (Tiesto, Diplo, Calvin Harris), Soundwave, Big Day Out, Summerdayze and Future Music.

So which heavy-hitting summer tour are you willing to fork out for? Pac or Madge? $600 is a lot of money for a backing track performance, either way.
