Triple J Have Absolutely Cooked It By Playing The ‘You Wouldn’t Steal A Car’ Ad This Morning

Triple J has officially cooked it beyond all belief on the final day of their massive Requestival program by playing one of this country’s biggest fkn bangers. Our second national anthem, if you will. Just when you thought the other days of the program were completely batshit, the final day has come to slap us around.

Nothing says wake the fuck up and rave like a bit of Eiffel 65 at the crack of dawn. Clearly, our national broadcaster knows this, and so they appeased the possums who were up at 2 am with this absolute gem of a tune.

A few hours later and radio listeners were treated to the full final rap battle from 8 Mile starring Eminem. Yes, it’s that one scene you’ve definitely seen from the movie, even if you’ve never watched the full thing. You know the one.

It was shortly after this, however, that listeners were treated to a real fkn classic. A modern work of art. A Louvre-worthy track that will absolutely start your day off right.

If you have no idea what I’m talking about from that description alone, firstly, you are clearly too young to be here right now, and secondly, it’s obviously the Federation Against Copyright Theft & The Motion Picture Association’s ‘You Wouldn’t Steal A Car’ ad.

Yes, in the wee hours of 6.54 am, Triple J blasted all 50 seconds of the glorious song, in a real blink-and-you’ll-miss-it moment.

For the uneducated, or for those who just love to rewatch the ad and boot up the old nostalgia machine, here it is. It’s glorious, it’s so unnecessarily jarring with its camera angles, and the text never stays still for a single second.

We. Love. It.

Naturally, the only way to get people down from the absolute high that this song would fill them with, was to play Soulja Boy‘s ‘Pretty Boy Swag’.

Car theft may be momentary, but swag is forever.

I’m just waiting to see what absolutely cooked shit Triple J throws at us next before they wrap up the Requestival for another absolutely successful year.

Play the Play School theme song next, you cowards.
