With results sure to be indicative of the popular consensus garnered by pretty much every just-published or imminent Best Albums of 2013 list that doesn’t include Beyoncé but still manages to remain slicker than Alex Turner’s quiff, triple j listeners have selected the mad sounds of Arctic MonkeysAM as their collective favourite album of the year.

Praised by the station for its highly-danceable “slick, leathered up, funk infused rock and roll”, AM, the fifth album from the now LA-based Sheffield lads, rounded out a pretty stellar list of some of the year’s best and most popular albums, followed soon after in the favouritism stakes by Daft Punk’s Random Access Memories and Arcade Fire’s critically-acclaimed fourth magnum opus Reflektor
