Trailer for Chilly Gonzales, Tiga, Peaches, Feist Movie

Armed with a musician heavy cast (Feist, Tiga, Peaches) and a nonsensical script about the discovery of “jazz chess”, which we assume is like regular chess but with more heroin, Parisian DJ/Producer Chilly Gonzales explores the ridiculous side of competitive chess playing in his feature film debut Ivory Tower.

Speaking with us earlier this year Tiga described the project as “a hybrid between a classic sports comedy like Dodgeball with a bit of artsy biographical info about Gonzales.“. With that in mind the film’s premise involves two chess playing brothers, Hershell (Gonzales) and Thadeus (Tiga), and a former performance artist love interest, Marsha (Peaches). You can watch the trailer below which also doubles as the film clip for Gonzales’ “I Am Europe” (hello totally hilarious non-sequiturs about shrugging mustaches). Also, as far as we can tell, Tiga needs his own late night talk show immediately.

No word yet on the film’s release date but if you’re still doubting Gonzales’ absolute commitment to a chess-inspired body of work, the Frenchman will be releasing a Boys Noize produced album, “Ivory Towers”, on September 12th as a companion piece to the film.
