Aside from the usual human accidents who lose their shoes, spatial perception and ability to speak English, music festivals and comedy rarely coexist. There’s a reason for that. Festival goers seldom want to be engaged on that level, especially when they’re full of alcohol, it’s 30 degrees out and an actual musician is playing next door. No one told Homebake though, who will this year launch their inaugural Homebake Comedy Stage, a homegrown humour factory headlined by Tim Ross of Merrick and Rosso fame. Curated in tandem with The Sydney Comedy Festival, the stage will also host “King of urban comedy” Anthony Salame, musical comedy duo Smart Casual, Balls Of Steel alumni Rhys Nicholson and a bunch of people who have probably performed on The Footy Show.
