In a lengthy open letter posted on their Facebook, Melbourne‘s The Smith Street Band have cancelled their upcoming Australian tour, which was due to kick off next week at Melbs’ Forum Theatre.

The band’s first shows of 2019, which were scheduled to begin with two shows in Melb, and then hit Sydney, Brisbane, Hobart, Adelaide and Perth, also saw its support bands Sweater Curse and The Beths abandon the lineup last month.
At the time of cancelling the tour, two of the shows had completely sold out – one Melbourne show and the Brisbane date. All five of the headline shows are able to be refunded by contacting Ticketmaster, Ticketek or their point of purchase.
Hobart’s Day On The Lawn in the Royal Botanic Gardens will not be cancelled despite The Smith Street Band’s leave from the lineup.
