The Kills Video – “Satellite”

“Satellite” is the slinky film-noir score to the best/worst call of your life and the first single from The Kills’ fourth studio album Blood Pressures. According to an interview with Spin the song was inspired by a phone conversation between frontman Jamie Hince and his then girlfriend, now fiance Kate Moss: “I was on tour and the signal kept going. I kept losing her. It turned into a daydream about the universe and vibrations, and how a voice can go from one side of the planet to the other via satellite — and it’s all vibrations. But it was a daydream — a nightmare, really — about actually losing someone physically.”

Despite Hince’s cosmic vibrations and existential daydreams and whatnot the band opt for a more direct route in the song’s Sophie Muller directed film clip. Timeless cool abounds as Hince and frontwoman Alison Mosshart cruise the streets in a vintage Rolls Royce, just, well, ’cause they got it like that and one should always take the opportunity to drive a Rolls Royce for the song they wrote about their fiance who is also the most famous model of all time. I don’t know. Just speculating.

“Satellite” will be released digitally February 11, Blood Pressures is out April 1st.
