The interstate road trips of my youth were soundtracked by this weird band my parents had a mild obsession with. They were called The Beatles. I just called them weird.
The offending cassette tape, yep that’s right cassette tape was The Beatles’ psychedelic opus ‘Sgt. Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band” and while the tail end of ‘A Day In The Life’ isn’t the most soothing of material for a six year old’s ears, it eventually instilled a lifelong love of the Liverpudlian quartet. I’m sure the story is similar for most music fans and I’m even surer The Beatles: Rock Band is gonna sell a shitload of units.
The premise is simple, music fans will get the chance to play as John, Paul, George and Ringo as they progress through their career in chronological order – starting in Liverpool’s Cavern Club in 1963, the cross Atlantic Beatlemania of ’64 and the acid trip that was the late 60’s. No word yet as to whether virtual sitar will be made available but we can always dream right?
