Taylor Swift Crushes RiRi And Bey On Forbes’ Highest-Paid Female Musos List

Apparently, being on the wrong side of 2016’s biggest pop culture biggest rift hasn’t adversely affected Taylor Swift’s bank balance. Not at all.

In fact, Forbes have placed her right at the top of their list of the year’s highest-paid female musos with an astonishing income of US $170 million.

The publication reckons she made most of those dollarydoos through her massive 1989 World Tour, which drew hundreds of thousands of punters willing to part with their hard-earned cash, but endorsement deals with Apple and Diet Coke didn’t exactly hurt either.
Coming in second place is Adele, whose US $80.5 million in earnings stand in contrast to T-Swizzle’s. Instead of touring her guts out, the British belter racked up most of her dosh through sales of her album 25. Fair enough, really – it’s everywhere. Go on, check your mum’s glove compartment. It’ll be there.
Madonna picked up third place with US $76.5m thanks to her own massive tour, while Rihanna clinched fourth spot thanks to the $75m she banked courtesy of her new tunes – and savvy deals with basically every brand under the sun.
Beyoncé’s inclusion in fifth place with “only” US $54m is a surprise, until you clock Forbes’ assessment period. They tally earnings on a business year basis – which makes sense, really – so a full half of her earnings from her own monstrously huge Formation Tour go unaccounted for in this ranking.
Last year’s numero uno Katy Perry landed in fifth place, followed by J Lo, Britney Spears, Shania Twain (we know), and Celine Dion. Those final four were all bolstered by residencies in Las Vegas, so the moral of this story is essentially tour until ya lungs give out, or land yourself tenured in an international showbiz capital.
For what it’s worth, young gun Halsey also earned eight figures last year, but missed out on making the final ten. Insert your own Closer joke here.
