Fans Think Taylor Swift Subtly Came Out As Bisexual In Her New Music Video

Is your social media feed a little more colourful than usual this morning? That’s because Taylor Swift dropped her star-studded ‘You Need To Calm Down’ music video last night and let me tell ya, it’s a pride month MIRACLE.

In true T-Swizzle fashion, the girl packed a ton of secret references and Easter eggs in the vid that you may not notice at first glance, so ‘ave a go at it below, then we’ll discuss…

First up, let’s address the item that has caused the most chatter online: Tay’s potential coming out.

It has long been rumoured that Taylor is secretly bisexual and once had a fling with Karlie Kloss but they ultimately broke up which is why their ~friendship~ is such a mysterious one.

Trust me, there are scores of social media pages dedicated to this theory.

So you may have noticed that quite a few daisies appear throughout the video which many have interpreted as a nod to Kaylor (Taylor and Karlie’s ship name).

According to Kaylor lore, daisies are a “known Kaylor symbol,” as Karlie once posted a photo of a daisy after road-tripping with her “gal pal” and wrote “Best roadtrip ever.”

Fans think that Taylor walking away from a burning trailer represents her coming out of the closet while others think that the trailer being set alight is the one from her photoshoot with Kloss.

See below for reference:

Think this is just a bunch of fandom mumbo jumbo? Well, Taylor “liked” an image on Tumblr of a fan pointing out that Swift is “carrying the daisy out with her while the world burned behind her.” How d’ya like them daisies?

Another nod to bisexuality is in the scene with Todrick Hall where Swift’s hair is literally painted the colours of the bi flag, as one fan pointed out. The album cover for Lover is also painted pink and blue which fans have taken as an indication of a forthcoming announcement.

And now back to the less lucrative hidden gems in the vid.

There’s all the essential 13 references ‘coz the famously unlucky number apparently brings nothing but good fortune to Miss Swift.

You’ll see there are thirteen hours on her kitty watch.

13 rhinestones on her glasses.

The dice on the table add up to 13.

You’ll see 13 stars on her jacket, and she’s wearing a 13 necklace.

Next up, we’ve got some references to her forthcoming album, Lover including what very well may be some new song titles.

Tay recently announced that her highly anticipated new album will be dropping on August 23 so now’s the perfect time for some sneaky teasers.

Check out her glittery iPhone case with the word ‘Lover’ emblazoned on the back.

The letter box reads ‘Love Letters Only’ which could possibly be a new song.

Singer Hayley Kiyoko shoots an arrow into the number five, which fans think could mean she’s making an appearance on the fifth song of the album.

Daytime TV goddess Ellen DeGeneres gets a tatt that says ‘Cruel Summer,’ which people think could be a song title too.

Another piece of trivia for ya: Eagle-eyed fans have realised that Ellen had already filmed her part in the video when she had Tay as a guest on her show.

I had to pause and rewind to spot this next one!

When Taylor closes her caravan door, there’s a painting of a quote on the wall that reads, ‘Mom, I am a rich man.’

This is a reference to an iconic Cher quote where she said:

“I think men are the coolest, but you don’t really need them to live” and continued with “My mum said to me, ‘You know, sweetheart, one day you should settle down and marry a rich man.’ I said, ‘Mum, I am a rich man.’”

This could just be a badass reference to a badass quote by another badass ally OR it could be the title of a new song.

And, of course, it wouldn’t be a Taylor Swift music video without a bunch of cats as a reference to her own fur bbs, Olivia and Meredith.

Meanwhile, the scene in the pool feels like a direct reference to Legally Blonde.

The Pop Queen Pageant scene shows a ton of the most iconic women in pop, represented by drag queens.

Ryan Reynolds can be seen painting the Stonewall Inn in New York City, which is a legendary gay bar and historic landmark that was the site of riots in 1969, which many say sparked the gay rights movement.

And lastly, after years of feuding in song, social media posts and interviews, Taylor Swift and longtime rival Katy Perry finally settled their bad blood.

The pair danced it out, dressed as a happy meal ‘coz that’s just what the world needs RN.
