There is truly nothing better on the planet than experiencing live music. There’s a certain magic that dances in the air at every gig that simply cannot be replicated in the outside world.

It’s the ultimate escape from it all, and since 2020 wasn’t exactly fertile ground for live events, I know I’m not alone in saying that I’m absolutely fiending for a festival right now. There’s honestly nothing I want more in the world than to have my ears blown out by a gigantic PA as I scream the words to my favourite song in the arms of pals.

Luckily for Adelaide dwellers, there’s a bunch of shows coming up as part of a month-long festival called Summer Sounds, featuring some of the ~biggest~ names in Aussie music.

Brought to you by none other than the lords at Secret Sounds, Four Five Entertainment and Groove (aka the minds behind your favourite events like Splendour In The Grass, Spin Off & more), The Jungle Giants, Mallrat, Cub Sport and more have already made appearances at the event taking place at Bonython Park. Basically, to keep the whole thing COVID-Safe, each night of the month, a new stacked lineup takes to the stage to dazzle, spreading out the good vibes into an extended 30-day jam sesh. You’ll also be set up in an adorable little pod with your mates, so there’s no risk of potentially getting separated from the clan and having to battle terrible phone reception to reunite.

Over the next week or two you’ll be able to catch Ocean Alley, Spacey Jane, Lime Cordiale, Ball Park Music, Dune Rats and more – which is basically the physical embodiment of watching this year’s Hottest 100 countdown live. Each gig also features a lineup of incredible opening acts (Teenage Joans, Dear Seattle and Jess Day to name a few), so make sure you get around early to soak up every bit of talent hitting the stage.

After the music scene took such an immense hit in 2020, it’s incredible to see events like this make a comeback with the sole intention of getting everyone out to boogie and embrace the immense musical offerings we’ve got here in Oz.

Here’s the entire list of remaining gigs you can catch:

  • January 23 – Hayden James, Cosmo’s Midnight + Running Touch – SOLD OUT
