Sleigh Bells are brash and fun and over the top and this completely weird mix of hooky bubblegum pop and over-compressed bravado. It’s like eating a lollipop with a sledgehammer or fighting a baby panda or other things that are both menacing and cute at the exact same time. Some have compared them to Crystal Castles on the count of the female vocalist and scuzzy music vibe but unlike Crystal Castles there are actual melodies and discernible lyrics in Sleigh Bells’ stompy anthems plus I don’t think they take themselves as seriously.
