This just in: “Premature billboard ad” joins “cached ticketing info” and “loose lipped performer” as our favourite way to leak a festival lineup in 2011. Case in point? A portion of Stereosonic’s 2011 lineup leaked Sunday morning after billboards for the event divulged key headliners a week out from their first official announcement. Event organizers were quick to address the leak and issued the following statement to In The Mix : “Due to a miscommunication between the billboard company and the company responsible for installation, a portion of the Stereosonic lineup was released onto billboards in Sydney. Rumours are circulating that the billboard company staff were so excited about this years lineup, they just had to share it with Sydney’s commuters a week early.”
Headliners this year include Armin van Buuren, Carl Cox and Benny Benassi which is thrilling and all but not nearly as exciting as maybe meeting that rave security guard again.
