We’re officially a weekend away from the premiere of the new season of Game of Thrones and every man and his dog is prepping their butts for the onslaught of blood and chaos when we return to Westeros and beyond.
The good crew over at Spotify have put together some very solid playlists to help us all get into the vibe for each major character, and yes, Daenerys‘ list absolutely includes Imagine Dragons, and ‘Bring Me To Life‘ by Evanescence.
The streaming service teamed up with the show’s music supervisor, Eyven J Klean, to bring Australia’s top 20 fave characters to life with the tunes they’d absolutely listen to, y’know, if internet and music beyond medieval folk existed in King’s Landing.
What is this other-worldly contraption?
Arya Stark‘s playlist is full of angry, unapologetic chicks and riot grrrl punk which is so bloody perfect because she’s such a little Kathleen Hanna.
Jamie Lannister‘s has John Mayer, which suits him to a fuckin’ tee, Jon Snow‘s opens with ‘Wolves Of Winter’ by Biffy Clyro, and is packed-full of Very Good alit. rock, Robb Stark is clearly an indie darling with Vampire Weekend and LCD Soundsystem, and Tyrion Lannister‘s is a very eclectic mix of Baroque, Flogging Molly, and Mumford & Sons. Interesting.
I’m personally offended that Joffrey Baratheon‘s playlist is pretty much my teenage self’s iPod catalogue, with extremely classic emo heavyweights like My Chemical Romance, Paramore, Panic! At The Disco, and The Used.
A real great one is from Khal Drogo, a behemoth soaked playlist with thrash metal and gore-grind core, featuring Napalm Death, Cattle Decapitation, and Entombed.
The kicker is the extremely ominous on from The Night King. With tracks like Pantera‘s ‘Cowboys From Hell‘, Megadeth‘s ‘Kill The King’ and Mötorhead‘s ‘Dancing On Your Grave‘, God knows what we’re in for with the upcoming season.
