Not Even Spotify Wants A Bar Of Cory Bernardi’s BS ‘Hottest 100’ Knock-Off

So Cory Bernardi is clutching his pearls about Triple J‘s entirely democratic decision to shift the Hottest 100 by a whole 24 hours, and in response is trying to launch what he calls the #AC100, which presumably has nothing to do with lying in front of an air conditioning unit at full blast. And in doing so, he cobbled together a Spotify playlist of 100 Australian songs, every single one of which he has completely missed the thematic point of.

All that we know to be true. We also know that some of the artists he’s using in an attempt to make whatever inane point he has here have not exactly taken kindly to it.

Now, as it turns out, not even bloody Spotify wants anything to do with Bernardi and the Australian Conservatives.

The Australian office of the music streaming behemoth issued a short statement to media earlier this afternoon that refused to pull any punches.

Spotify has actively supported marriage, gender, and indigenous equality initiatives over the last five years, and believes in a diverse and multicultural Australia.

We want to make clear we do not endorse this playlist, nor do we have any official ties to the Australian Conservatives party nor any other political party.

Hard to read that any other way than a very stern and professional “blow it out yr arse, m8“.

There’s a whole mess of things you could probably say about Bernardi, the idea here, and the songs he managed to pick to back himself up. But, as with most things, it’s absolutely smart to leave the last word to the man himself, the great Jimmy Barnes.

Barnesy, you absolute bloody beauty.
