Southbound Festival Now Has An Alternative Entry Route Due To WA Fires

Southbound Festival in Western Australia is letting patrons know that an alternative route is now being worked out for entrance into the festival, due to the WA fires.
The fire, which started Wednesday afternoon and reached emergency status during the night and into Thursday morning, has closed a number of roads, including:
  • Forrest Highway, closed between Pinjarra Road and Raymond Road.
  • South Western Highway, closed between Coolup townsite and Johnston Road
  • Nanga Road, closed between Nanga Brook Road and Driver Road.
  • Old Coast Road, closed between Old Bunbury Road and Forrest Highway. ?

As it stands on Thursday, drivers would have to detour via Collie/Darken and Boddington to get to Bunbury and Busselton.

In an official release to media, Southbound Festival said this:
“We’ve been informed from West Australian Police and Department of Fire and Emergency Services that the South West and Forrest Highway is more than likely going to be closed tomorrow. As a result, alternative access is required to get to the event. We are working with the WA Police and Department of Fire and Emergency Services moving forward and will provide more updates after we have spoken to them in more details later today. In the meantime, this is the alternate access plan.”
