Slayer canceled their headline slot at Sydney’s Soundwave festival yesterday after singer/bassist Tom Araya was hospitalized due to a mystery illness. The cancellation was announced minutes before the band were set to play causing a torrent of angry tweets from perturbed festival-goers. Araya was hospitalized overnight but organizers promise he’ll be healthy for Slayer’s next performance at Melbourne Soundwave this Friday. To the best of our knowledge no farm animals were sacrificed as a result of the cancellation.
