The Sydney Morning Herald report that Batte’s management and label released a joint statement following her untimely death. “We are deeply saddened by the tragic news of the loss of Simone Battle of G.R.L,” it read.
“Simone was an exceptional young talent and human being and we are all devastated to learn of her passing. Our thoughts and prayers are with her family and loved ones at this time.”
Battle came to prominence on the U.S. version of X Factor in 2011, and at one point, was signed to be part of a new lineup of the group Pussycat Dolls, before G.R.L formed instead.
Her cause of death is now known, but reportedly, investigations are continuing at her West Hollywood house.
