Well Shit, A Heavy Silverchair Tribute LP Is Coming And Here’s The 1st Tune

Australian icons Silverchair are being given the cover album treatment, courtesy of a shitload of Australia’s premiere heavy bands.

Spawn (Again): A Tribute To Silverchair has been unveiled by record label UNFD, and it boasts a line-up fit for the festival of your stage-diving dreams: The Amity Affliction, Hands Like Houses, and Ocean Grove are just a few of the drop-tuned thrashers enlisted to pay tribute.

The first tune to pummel its way into our consciousness is Northlane’s take on Anthem For The Year 2000. If you ever wanted to know what the 1999 track would sound like played on burly ESPs and modelling amps, the answer is something reminiscent of early Karnivool.

Yep. Daniel Johns meets proto-djent. Cop it below:

Speaking of Silverchair’s influence on him, Northlane guitarist Jon Deiley said “to me as a young kid, it was intense and heavy and it wasn’t til a few years later that I really began to appreciate the impact their music had on me at an early age.”

You can expect that influence to be pretty keenly felt when the full record drops on November 17. Until then, imagine what Ahren Stringer‘s laser-guided vocals will sound like on Tomorrow:

The Amity Affliction – Tomorrow
Void of Vision – Israel’s Son
In Hearts Wake – Freak
The Brave – Cemetery
Northlane – Anthem For The Year 2000
Hands Like Houses – Ana’s Song (Open Fire)
Ocean Grove – Spawn (Again)
Storm The Sky – Emotion Sickness
Tonight Alive – Without You
Columbus – Straight Lines
