Sia Lands First US No.1 With ‘1000 Forms Of Fear’

Adelaide-born pop music Svengali, Sia has scored her first US number one album with her excellent sixth studio album 1000 Forms of Fear, an equal parts introspective and exuberant songwriting masterclass in the power of a heart-swelling chorus. Per a report in Variety, “The album’s victory is something of a Pyrrhic one, from an industry standpoint, for 1000 Forms of Fear notched the lowest sales for a No. 1 album since August 2012. 52,000 copies [were sold] according to Nielsen SoundScan data.”

The followup to the similarly as ambitious 2010 set We Are Born, 1000 Forms of Fear debuted at number one on the ARIA album charts on Sunday and earned Sia her second consecutive APRA Songwriter of The Year award last month, owing in part to the success of the album’s lead single ‘Chandelier’, its brilliant Daniel Askill directed video and the endlessly creative live performances that have accompanied it.
1000 Forms of Fear is out now through Inertia and Monkey Puzzle Records, and you can and should stream the album in full below.
