Shirley Manson Returns Serve At Kanye West, Calls Him “A Complete Twat”

The saga from yesterday’s Grammy Awards continues, for better or worse. Following Kanye West‘s almost “I’ma let you finish” stage invasion in response to Beck winning the Grammy for Album of the Year over Beyoncé, and the subsequent ego-maniacal explanation of his actions in which he suggested Beck needed to “respect artistry” and that he should have “given his award to Beyoncé,” today comes the volleys being lobbed back in the direction of Yeezy.

Most notably, Garbage frontwoman Shirley Manson has taken to firing back at West’s – let’s face it – short-sighted words.
Taking to Facebook, and in only the way a Scottish person can, Manson lambasted West in a venomous open letter that chided him for having the gall to call for someone to respect artistry whilst diminishing the accomplishments of one artist over another.
The letter in full reads a little something like this.

Dear Kanye West

It is YOU who is so busy disrespecting artistry.

You disrespect your own remarkable talents and more importantly you disrespect the talent, hard work and tenacity of all artists when you go so rudely and savagely after such an accomplished and humble artist like BECK.

You make yourself look small and petty and spoilt.

In attempting to reduce the importance of one great talent over another, you make a mockery of all musicians and music from every genre, including your own.

Grow up and stop throwing your toys around.

You are making yourself look like a complete twat.

Ps.I am pretty certain Beyonce doesn’t need you fighting any battles on her account. Seems like she’s got everything covered perfectly well on her own.

For what it’s worth, Beck himself seems to have handled the whole ordeal like a champ, nonchalantly brushing off Yeezy’s comments whilst heaping praise on West’s artistic accomplishments, telling US Weekly, “I was just so excited he was coming up. He deserves to be onstage as much as anybody. How many great records has he put out in the last five years, right?

And, when asked about him winning over Beyoncé he remarked, “I thought she was going to win. Come on, she’s Beyonce! . . . You can’t please everybody, man.
Kanye himself got on the bike and did a bit of backpedalling earlier today as well, after being accosted by TMZ in New York.

I wasn’t saying Beck; I said the Grammys. Beck knows that Beyoncé should have won; you know that. Come on, man. I love Beck! But he didn’t have the Album of the Year.”

There’s a little gold gramophone statue with the name “Beck Hansen” engraved on it that begs to differ with that statement, Ye.
