Selena Gomez Completes Two-Week Treatment Program For Depression & Anxiety

Actress and singer Selena Gomez is reportedly feeling “empowered” after completing a two-week treatment program for anxiety and depression at an inpatient facility in New York.

Per reports in People, the 25-year-old entered the facility in early January, and participated in daily pilates and meditation sessions, while undergoing therapy and eating healthy meals.

A source close to her told the publication:

“She felt like she needed to get away and focus on herself with no distractions. She came back feeling very empowered. She wants to go again later this year. She feels and looks great. She’s still working on new music and is excited about it.”

Another source confirmed the stay to Us Weekly, telling them:

“She doesn’t want to slip back to where she was ever. She’s had a lot going on the last few months and she wanted to clear her mind and thought this was the way to do it. She loved it. She will be back at some point during the year.”

In 2014, Gomez checked into Arizona’s Dawn Of The Meadows facility after a breakup with her on-again off-again boyfriend Justin Bieber.

In August of 2016, she once again announced that she was taking a break to focus on her health after suffering bouts of “anxiety, panic attacks and depression” related to a lupus diagnosis.

Bieber, who got back together with Selena Gomez last year, is supporting her recovery, with a source close to the singer telling publication Hollywood Life:

“Selena’s health is still very much a concern for her and for Justin. He has been doting on her and making sure she has everything she needs all the time. He cares very much for Selena and is doing his best to make sure she does not overwork or stress herself out with too much unnecessary drama … Justin fears that between work and tension from a rocky relationship with her mother, that Selena does not take enough time to relax and enjoy life. He wants her to slow down and take better care of herself so she does not put her health in danger.”
