Straight up: this is probably the only way this could have gone. Doing anything when you’re Kanye is going to cause chaos, announcing a secret show for 2 in the morning in New York is liable to cause a riot – which it absolutely did.
After having to cancel a headlining set at the Governors Ball music festival, Ye decided to make it up to fans by doing a last minute show at Webster Hall.
He tweeted out a hint about the show (now deleted), and, of course, 4000 people rocked up to the venue – which only holds 1500. Needless to say, shit got crazy and the venue decided to call the show off.
The crowd got out of hand when Kanye rocked up, getting all in each others grill and climbing on cars and dumpsters and buildings to try and get closer to the man himself.

Kim Kardashian posted a video to Snapchat of Yeezy on the phone, trying to get through to the mayor of NYC, in an attempt to get the streets around Webster Hall shut down so people could party outside. Not sure it worked.
