Tremendous news for fans of good-ol’ fashioned whiteboy soul. Sam Smith, who has been on hiatus since 2015, has announced he’s got new tunes coming “very very soon”.
The singer sent a newsletter to fans on his mailing list saying that he’s poured his “heart and soul” into a new album and is “scared and excited” for everyone to hear it.
The same message hit social media a little later on:

It feels like ages ago, but Smith’s debut album In the Lonely Hour was a cracking success – to the point that he was invited to do a James Bond theme, a cherished honour extended only to the highest cultural representatives of their age, like A-ha.
Sam told Elllen DeGeneres back in 2015 that he was taking some time off to “kiss some more boys so [he] can write some songs” . Here’s hoping he kissed enough of them to be kind of sad about it and write some tasty blue-eyed soul.
